Stability! Another reason that many people migrate to and seek to become citizens of the United States is for government stability. I know many may think that our government can be unstable at times, but in comparison with many other countries, we are a rock. Governments all over the world (ex. Haiti, Somalia) experience rises and falls due to corrupt politics and military coups.
This causes the citizens of those nations to experience fluctuating economic, social, and political climates; which cause many of them to endure hard times. Yes, many come to the Untied States looking for some semblance of normalcy and stability.
The greatest countries of this world, however, pale in comparison with the Kingdom of God. God is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). God cannot be overthrown, although satan tried. God cannot be voted out; He is a King and not an elected official.
God cannot be outsmarted; He is the Master of the Universe. God cannot be outshined; He is the source of all light. God is God and beside Him, there is no other.
2 Corinthians 4:8 “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;”
Summary:
1. We live in the world.
2. Those of us who are born-again are citizens of heaven and we simply live out our lives in this foreign land.
3. This world experiences a multitude of changes, causing us to experience some of those repercussions.
4. When we operate under Kingdom principles, we will be able to endure the changes and come out untouched.
5. Our text teaches us that we might suffer, but we are never crushed.
6. Our text teaches us that even when we don’t know what to do, we never give up.
7. Our text teaches us that in times of trouble, God is always the same and He is always with us.
8. Our text teaches us that we might get knocked down, but we get back up again.
9. Isaiah said it this way, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” (Isaiah 43:2)
10. So we can see that a tremendous benefit to being a citizen of the Kingdom of God is having the ability to live a stable life in the midst of an unstable environment.
Do you need some stability in your life? Are things going haywire? Do things seem like they are out of control? Then why not stake a claim for your benefits?
CONFESSION
Heavenly Father, I am a born-again believer. I have declared my citizenship in Your Kingdom. I have a right to stability. You are a God that changes not. I hold to Your Unchanging Hand today and every day and I enjoy the stability that comes from being connected to You and being born into Your Kingdom. The world may change around me, the rains may fall, the winds may blow, the floods may flow, but it will not affect me; because I am rooted and grounded on the Rock! In Jesus’ name Amen!
