JEHOVAH-SHALOM - "Our Peace and Wholeness"
John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid".
Philippians 4:6, 7 “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6, 7 (AMPV) - “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.”
Paul teaches us that that same access to God in prayer unleashes a supernatural peace in our lives. The text very clearly tells us not to worry about anything, but to pray about everything. When we worry, it is an indication that we do not trust God. If we truly trust God, then we will not worry. Worry and prayer are counterproductive. “God would keep us in ‘perfect peace” (Isaiah 23:6)
When we keep our minds on Him (prayer) because we are indicating that we trust Him. Paul simply tells us to pray, not to worry, and to receive a peace that no one can completely understand. God’s peace is truly beyond explanation.
It is something that you have either experienced and can identify with or have not experienced and are clueless about. This peace is so awesome, the text says, that it actually controls the way we think and feel.
Summary
- Worry is the fruit, but unbelief is the root: When you worry, it is because you do not believe God.
- Combat worry with prayer and trust: When you pray to the Father, in the name of Jesus, and in accordance with the Word, you must have the faith that God will bring it to pass. This faith will eradicate the worry and release God’s supernatural peace.
- Receive God’s peace and allow it to control the way you think and feel: After prayer, receive God’s peace and walk in it.
- Thoughts of doubt and unbelief will invariably come, but we do not have to receive them. Cast the impure thoughts away and allow the peace of God to control the way you think and feel.
- Stake a claim on your benefits: In the natural, if you were educated on a new benefit of citizenship in your earthly country, you would still have to go down to the respective office and stake a claim on that benefit.
- In the Spirit, it works the same way. I have educated you on this benefit, but you still have to go to the Father in prayer and stake a claim for your benefit.
- Education does not guarantee application: Many people know about benefits they can claim, but they are too lazy to go and make a demand on those same benefits. Peace is one of the benefits of becoming a child of God and operating in His Kingdom. Will you stake your claim today?
CONFESSION
Heavenly Father, I am born-again. I am a citizen of Your Kingdom. I stake a claim on my benefits. I know through the Word of God that peace is a benefit. I claim MY peace today. I walk in Your peace, the peace that passes all understanding. I allow your peace to control the way I think and feel. When I come in contact with other people today no matter how I am treated, I will not lose my peace. I will not allow worry and unbelief to seep into my life. In Jesus’ name Amen!
